I Phone Clone IClone CECT P168 Product Review

No matter whether I call it the iPhone Clone, The iClone, or the CECT P168 phone, (and now also the CECT P168+ and the P168 + C and + S models. I love this phone. It allows me to do everything that I could do with an Iphone and I got it on ebay for about $100 total. I love that I can remove the battery, watch videos, play music, browse the web, and snap photos when I feel like it. I really really love that I'm not out $500. I understand completely why Popular Science called The IClone "the real thing."

The ebay seller shipped it within 2 days. You can run a real time eBay search of all of the 168's available by clicking here. (This search includes all of the most current models.) (To learn how to get the cheapest Ebay IClone Deal, Read My "Getting An IClone On The Cheap From Ebay" Article). It was free and easy to sign up for ebay and this phone was cake to set up and get working. You can just connect it via USB port to your computer and off you go. Plus, you can switch out Sim cards without ever turning the phone off. It truly is a touch screen with an extremely sharp picture. Most people who see it assume that it is an Iphone.

I will definately be buying another for my son - who after seeing mine is dying for his own. He knows I would never spring $500 for an Iphone, but I have no problem spending $100 on such a nice phone as the CECT P168.

If you need more info about the IClone, check out the specs in this comparison article, check out the Popular Science article that called The IClone "the real deal."

How Does The IClone CECT P168 Stack Up To IPhone? Better!

By: Rae Edwards: There's no doubt that the IPhone is on a lot of Christmas wish lists this year. The IPhone is highly innovative and much sought-after for its multimedia functionality, but the IPhone is also incredibly expensive with a $500 price tag and a required expensive monthly AT&T contract.

With the IPhone you are forced to contract with AT&T for your wireless service. If you want anywhere near 1,000 minutes, you'll be paying over $100 per month for your service.

There is away around both the initial price of an IPhone and the costs of the expensive AT&T plan. It's called the iClone, the CECT P168, or the iPhone brother, etc., (it's called "the real thing" by Popular Science) - and it offers ALL of the features of an IPhone and bonus, extra features like an additional speaker and a removable battery, plus it allows you to use whatever participating carrier you like (even your current provider). Popular Science Magazine recently called the iClone P168 "the real thing" because the IClone performs well, is 1/4 the price of an iPhone and the IClone CECT P168 has features that the iPhone doesn't have like the ability to operate on two different networks at once, SIX speakers, and the aforementioned removable battery.

Better still, the IClone CECT P168 runs under $150 - sometimes as low as $100 on eBay. (if you're not a member, you can sign up here for free. This means you can actually get yourself, your kid or loved one the IPhone-like touch screen, the ability to surf the web or watch videos, and the MP3 capabilities we are all are desperate for, without worrying about the credit card bill coming or without having to threaten your kid's life if they lose the IClone. Basically, anything you can do with the IPhone, you can also do with the IClone CECT P168 - AND you can remove the battery and operate on two Sim cards. Then, you can take the $400 you saved and treat yourself or your family.

The CECT P168 features IPhone wallpaper, startup images and even has a 3.5 inch metal touch screen. The CECT P168 will automatically recognize your network, phone book, personal settings and phone book. Additional standard features on the CECT P168 are:

Ring tones Type: Polyphonic (64 channels), Monophonic, True Tones, MP3;

Music player: Support MP3 player, with mp3, midi, and wav format;

Movie player: Support 3GP/MP4 movie player with full-screen;

Camera function: Camera with 1.3MP, 1024*1280 pixels, video (QCIF);

Memory Type: Support T-FLASH arbitrary expansion slot (256mb TF card included);

Interface: USB;

Vibrate: Yes;

Internet Browser;

Bluetooth;

Java 2.0;

Handwriting Recognition;

Messaging: SMS, MMS;

Cell phone Directory: iPhone Book Memory supports 300 records;

Supports Caller Ringing / Caller Video Player;

Game: Two games built in + downloadable;

Calculator/world time/stopwatch;

Unit Conversion/Currency Conversion/Calendar;

Stand-by time: Up to 150h;

Talk time: 180min--300min;

and

Supports: English (Default), Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Arabic.

(You can get an English Manual on Ebay for about $3.00)

There are a few sketchy overseas vendors of the CECT P168, but I strongly recommend getting your IClone CECT P168 on eBay, because EBay offers pay pal fraud protection, the protection of the feedback system, and the competition on EBay ensures you get the lowest price. EBay's feedback system allows you to actually see buyer comments about the seller so you will know how many happy customers the seller has. Nearly all of the CECT P168 feedback is positive. You can also contact previous buyers to see if they are enjoying their IClone.

If you're not a current Ebay member, it is quick, easy and free to sign up. And unlike overseas vendors, Ebay is safe, secure and protected.

With features and specifications amazingly similar to the IPhone at under ¼ of the price, the IClone is a great way to try out the Phone's features while waiting for the price of the IPhone to trickle down. It's also a way to give your kids (or yourself) the technology they are hungry for at a fraction of the price. With the money you save (about $400), you can put a lot of additional presents under the tree this year.

Want A Cheap IClone?: 4 Steps To A Cheap Ebay Iclone

By: R. Edwards: Once you’ve made the decision to save almost $400 on an IPhone by buying an iPhone clone, of course you’ll want the best deal possible. I’m going to save you lots of time by assuring you that without question, the cheapest, safest, and most reliable place to get an IClone is on eBay. Generally speaking, IClone’s run an average of $50-$75 cheaper on eBay than what you will pay if you buy your Iclone for an overseas provider. And, that’s not even calculating shipping from the overseas merchant, which will be much higher than what you will pay on EBay. Plus, if you pay by pay pal, you’ll get pay pal’s fraud protection and you can use EBay’s feedback system to ensure you’re buying from a dependable Iclone seller. You can register for ebay for free by clicking here.

STEP ONE: SIGN UP FOR EBAY TO GET YOUR CHEAP ICLONE: Signing up for eBay is free, fast, easy and secure. Click here to do so. I recommend signing up well prior to when you plan to actually bid on or buy any phone. I say this because I have a personal experience with losing out on an auction because I waited to register and did not allow myself enough time to both register and bid. So, give yourself time to register, then plenty of time research your options, then plenty of bid.

STEP TWO: RESEARCH AND NARROW YOUR BEST ICLONE EBAY CONTENDERS: Once you’ve registered on eBay and are ready to start your research, do a general search on Ebay. I've done that for you here.

Now, on the left side of the screen, there is a section which says “narrow your options.” If you are in a hurry, you can limit your auctions to “buy it now.” This means you’ll be shown only IClone auctions where you can buy the IClone at a set price without having to bid on the auction. Sometimes, “Buy It Now” is a good deal.

Next, pick what you think are the top 5 contenders for your Iclone. Check the item description and make sure there isn’t anything about the product you don’t like. Next, check the seller’s feedback. You want to see as close to 100% positive EBay feedback as possible. It is very difficult to get 100% positive feedback as usually there is always someone who wants a perfect, new item almost for free, but most good vendors will have over 98% positive. Read the comments from other buyers who bought this seller’s Iclone. They all should be good. You can also contact the other buyers by clicking on the description and then hitting “contact this eBay member”. Once you do that, simply send the buyer an email and ask them if they like the Iclone and would recommend the seller. I felt very comfortable buying my Iclone once I had several other buyers telling me they loved theirs.

STEP THREE: PUT ALL ICLONE CONTENDERS ON EBAY’S WATCH LIST AND DO NOT BID UNTIL THE LAST SECONDS OF THE AUCTION: Here is the most important thing to remember for getting your Iclone cheap. DO NOT bid on the auction you really want until the LAST POSSIBLE SECOND. This is the number one mistake Iclone bidders make. Once, you’ve determined you want to bid on an Iclone auction hit “watch this item” on the top right hand side of the auction. This will put the auction in your “my eBay section.” Basically, you place all your contenders on your watch list, allowing you to keep an eye on them WITHOUT BIDDING and driving the price up. What happens is a lot of excited IClone bidders bid immediately, tip their hands and run the price up. Then, the serious bidders wait till the end to bid - but the price has already been driven too high.

Calendar the end time of your actions, wait until about 20-30 seconds until the auction ends (if you practice you can get it lower than this - I usually go in at about 15 seconds), and pounce out of nowhere. (Make sure you are already registered and logged in or it will not go through and you’ll be heartbroken.)

BIDDING AT THE LAST SECOND WORKS: BUT GO ALL IN WITH AN ODD NUMBER TO GET YOUR CHEAP IPHONE: Although this strategy has allowed me to “steal” many EBay items at the last second including the Iclone, it’s very important to remember that you must put in the highest amount you are willing to pay. But don’t worry because EBay will only bid the lowest amount needed for you to win. So let’s say you are willing to pay $150 for your Iclone, put an odd number close to that in as your highest bid, do not put in $110 because if some other bidder is waiting till the last second also, but he puts in $111, he is going to win. If you had put in, say $151.76, you would’ve won for $112. Remember though, if the other bidder put in $145, then you would be bid at $146. I find it’s best to put in odd numbers as my high bid. If I’m willing to go as high as $150, then I will put $151.76 - yes, that is a little more money, but most people will automatically put in $150 and by putting in $151.76, then I will the Iclone away from a bunch of other people for only about $1.50 more.

I hope these tips have helped you envision your cheap Iclone. So open an eBay account or log on if you already have one and start narrowing your Iclone auctions.

Get Around $500 For An Iphone With An Iclone

By: Rae Edwards: The Iphone is currently Ebay's most searched item and is reportedly also among the highest searched google phrases. No doubt many are wishing for technology underneath their stocking. The ipones' innovative technology, sleek design and status factor all score big points with both kids and adults alike. But, it can be hard to stomach the up to $500 price tag, when there's little doubt the technology can be copied and will come down in price. Additionally, one huge draw back of the Iphone is that you are forced to use AT&T's expensive plan - the bargain basement of which will run you about $100 per month.

There are Iphone clone's all over the net and on Ebay for about ¼ of the price. And surprisingly, the quality is not that bad and in some cases the knock offs offer more features for less price. Among the most popular of the Iclone's is the 168. This phone has all of Iphone's features but sometimes runs under $100 on Ebay. (If you are not a member of Ebay, you can sign up here for free.) The P168 looks so much like the Iphone you have to squint to tell the difference (with the same wallpaper) and you can use your own wireless carrier. The Youtube videos (posted on this site) are very convincing.

Other than allowing you to get around AT&T expensive plan, the 168 has a few features that the Iphone doesn't. It comes with TWO sim card slots, so you no longer have to carry two phones for talking or surfing. The CECT 168 also has a removable battery. You can not remove the Iphone's battery by yourself and this a huge drawback for some people considering it.

The 168 will automatically recognize your personal settings, network and phone book. It has all of the standard features of the Iphone. Just like the Iphone, you can play music, watch movies and surf the web. The 168 standard features include: a 3.5" touch screen display with 26k colors and 240 x 320 pixel resolution; polyphonic (64 channels), monophonic, true tones and MP3 ring tones; a full MP3 player that supports mp3, midi, and wav format; a full-screen movie player that supports 3GP/MP4 function; a built in 1.3MP, 1024*1280 pixels, video (QCIF) camera; t-flash arbitrary expansion slot memory (256mb TF card included); USB interface; vibrate function; Internet browsing; Bluetooth; java 2.0; handwriting recognition; Sms, mms messaging; a phone book that supports 300 records; caller ringing / caller video player support; two games built in + down loadable options; calculator/world time/stopwatch; unit conversion/currency conversion/calendar; 180min--300min Of Talk Time; English (Default), Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, German, Italian, French, Spanish, and Arabic languages.

In my opinion, the best thing about the 168 is that it allows you to try out the Iphone's features for cheap until Apple's prices come down.
So itechnology is not set in stone. There are knockoffs, there are refurbished options and there are full price iPhones that force you to go with AT&T. Whichever option you go with, Iphone's technology may just be more affordable than you think.

Popular Science Calls IClone CECT P168 The Real Thing

From Popular Science Magazine - August 2007

Growing Beyond Fakes
"The Next iClones
Copies of the iPhone are now dividing into two categories: the inspired-bys and the wholesale duplicates. The first category includes work-alikes manufactured by well-known cellphone makers, like HTC—one of the largest manufacturers of smartphones—and Sun Microsystems. HTC announced that it will be bringing its "Touch" model to the U.S. this fall. In May, Sun CEO Jonathan Schwartz followed in the footsteps of Steve Jobs (and Meizu's Jack Wong) by displaying his own one-off version of a touchscreen prototype at a software-developers convention. Sun's chairman, Scott McNealy, had no qualms about making the iPhone comparison: "We have our own shirtsleeve version of Steve Jobs announcing a phone," he told the audience.

The number of duplicates is also growing. Although Meizu may have gone silent because of fears of an Apple lawsuit—after my visit in Hong Kong, they stopped responding to my e-mails and phone calls—other companies are moving ahead. A few days before Apple's launch, an online video surfaced depicting a sleek new product called the P168 [watch the video below]. The phone came in a black box, marked with both the iPhone and the Apple logos. The video showed the phone being unpacked and operated (the start-up screen also featured the Apple branding). There were features that the iPhone didn't have, such as the ability to operate on two different networks at once; six speakers; and, addressing a major prerelease complaint about the iPhone, a removable battery. I asked my translator if she could find one on the street. They weren't available in Beijing—yet—but a few weeks later, a friend discovered one in Guangzhou. The manufacturer of the P168 wouldn't comment for this story, but the hardware was real, and it worked.

Neither the miniOne, the P168 nor even HTC's model are likely to carry the mystique or quality of the iPhone. But that's not really the point. Those phones will be available to millions more consumers than Apple's product, at a lower price. The rest of the world will accept the clones as if they were the original. That will make them no different than a flood of Chinese products—cars, pharmaceuticals, food, appliances—that are emerging from the shadows and climbing the learning curve to the point that they will no longer be clones at all. They'll be the real thing."
